CHALLENGE
How might we create a real-time, mobile-first event program that is effortless to navigate, replacing outdated static PDFs?
How might we strengthen engagement with high-value stakeholders by providing an on-brand digital experience?
STATUS QUO
Before 2025, Wilhelmsen’s Nor-Shipping program lived in two constantly changing PDFs: one for Aker Brygge and one for Lillestrøm. It was hard for visitors to compare events between venues on-the-go.
POWERPOINTS MAKE PLANNING HARD
PROCESS
01 Problem
Before 2025, Wilhelmsen’s Nor-Shipping program lived in two constantly changing PDFs: one for Aker Brygge and one for Lillestrøm. It was hard for visitors to compare events between venues on-the-go. It didn’t reflect the premium experience at Wilhelmsen.
Static PDFs are not very useable on any platform, especially on mobile devices. The challenge became clear: create a single source of truth, a schedule that the users could use side by side and plan their day seamlessly.
02 Design approach
I designed an interactive schedule structured around the Nor-Shipping dates, allowing users to navigate within one click. Each date reveals the program for both venues and timestamps in the center. To improve clarity, I color-coded the two locations as well.
03 Adaptive design
Since many users access the page on-the-go, the mobile page was built as an adaptive design. Every version was tested on multiple devices to ensure clarity.
04 Frontend implementation
Once the optimal variant was approved, I built the page in Vev, a no-code platform used for custom designed pages to go around Wilhelmsen CMS strict templates. Vev had limitations that didn’t fully support my original custom elements and effects. I worked closely with Vev’s support teams and they helped me find creative workarounds effectively.
Despite several iterations and insignificant compromises, the core user experience remained intact. One of the issues for example was that the inner shadow did not have an option of changing color, so I had to find a workaround by uploading png idle, hover, and active button states. Glass effect was not supported either at the time.
PRODUCT SHOWCASE
IMPACT
Compared to Nor-Shipping 2023 landing, the 2025’s landing page drove 37x more visitors, kept them engaged 6x longer, and doubled engagement rates to 65%. Traffic stayed high throughout the event, making users come back for updates.
LEARNINGS
A once overlooked event page improved the user journey and elevated the brand. I was again reminded that good design removes friction for people and that in turn moves the business forward.
Working with no-code platform for implementation taught me to balance designer ambition and usefulness. Technical and time constraints challenged me to stay focused on clarity and usability.
